first annual flower party!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how excited I was about this event. It’s something I had been talking about for a while, and finally decided to just go for it.

I feel most happy when I’m outside enjoying nature with friends or family (which is a bit funny considering I’m all about decor inside the home). But, I wanted the opportunity to bring women together, in PERSON, to create beautiful bouquets using grocery store florals. It’s something I’ve always loved doing on my own, but I knew it would be a great group activity and a perfect way to meet new people while keeping our hands busy with fresh flowers.

Of course a hurricane hit the coast just days before the party, bringing in buckets upon buckets of rain. But by the time Saturday rolled around, it was muddy but dry with clear skies (thank you God!). I spent a few weeks leading up to the event frequenting second hand stores and thrift shops looking for unique antique vessels to build the bouquets in. We ended up with a pretty wide range of vessels including a tea pot, brass dish, mason jars, and glass vases. It was fun to see what everyone chose, and how they chose their color scheme and floral style based on the vase.

I bought all the flowers from Trader Joe’s over the course of two days so that I could get the best selection. I’m always so impressed with their flowers, and they did not disappoint for this event. I bought up basically all the eucalyptus varieties that they had (sorry if you wanted some and they were sold out- I’m to blame!) along with a huge assortment of other flowers in every color and variation I could find. We munched on cheese and crackers, sipped wine, and enjoyed chatting while putting our bouquets together. It was definitely a success!

Thanks again to everyone who came out to join me! I definitely want to make this an annual event, and maybe even bi-annual doing it every spring and fall. I was seriously so impressed with how amazing everyone’s bouquets turned out- there were some creative juices flowing to say the least. Here’s a few photos of the day! HUGE shout out to A Girl Named Leney for always showing up with her camera to capture the moment.

And one of Hanky- my mom brought him down at the end of the party, and he loved all the attention!
